Games Art and Design

Having finished the vintage phone project, we've moved on to something more advanced, creating a damaged pillar. I started out not really knowing what it was that I wanted to make, so I made a few different designs. I wanted to go for something that would go well in a fantasy setting, perhaps in a temple as a functioning pillar or something that could be more monolithic.

One of the ideas that I had was to have two trees growing up from stone and twisting around each other in a helix pattern, supporting the top of the pillar and anything above it, either a roof or an awning. The design was pretty simple, but I wanted to keep it that way so that during the modelling process I wouldn't be too bogged down in trying to replicate all of the details in the concept and it would free me up to be a bit more creative with my model.
